Pontotoc Community Theater’s Backstage Mom Recognized for Support
Nicole Gray has become a familiar face at Pontotoc Community Theater, where she has supported productions in various roles behind the scenes. Her involvement began when her son, Gracen, was cast as Fritz in “The Nutcracker.” Since then, she has helped with lighting, sound, costume fixes, and backstage organization, according to theater officials.
This weekend, Gray is assisting with the upcoming production of “A Hairy Tale.” Her responsibilities include keeping young actors organized, listening for cues, and calming nerves backstage to ensure the show runs smoothly, said a theater spokesperson.
Gray recently made her acting debut as Morgan in “Treasure Island.” She expressed enjoyment in performing but said she finds equal fulfillment in supporting cast members behind the scenes. She emphasizes her gratitude for her faith, family, and community support, which she says motivates her volunteer efforts.
The production of “A Hairy Tale” will take place at Pontotoc Community Theater, located at 106A North Main Street in Pontotoc, Mississippi. Performances are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10, cash only at the door, with online sales available up to one hour before each show.
Officials thanked Gray for her dedication and encouraged the community to attend and support local theater. The event promises family-friendly entertainment, with Gray’s son, Gracen, performing on stage.
