Director Kim Tutor Prepares for ‘A Hairy Tale’ at Pontotoc Community Theater

Kim Tutor, vice president of Pontotoc Community Theater, is directing the upcoming production of ‘A Hairy Tale,’ set to run this weekend at the theater in Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Tutor has been involved with the theater for five years, participating as an actress and director. She says directing the annual children’s production is particularly meaningful to her.

Tutor first became involved with the theater as a way to spend time with her middle son, Ben. Over time, her involvement grew into a family affair, with her husband and all three children participating in productions. While she directs, her husband, Jonathan, manages lights and sound behind the scenes.

Her children, Ben and Ellie, will also appear onstage during this weekend’s show. When not directing, Tutor enjoys mentoring young performers and helping them build confidence and friendships through theater.

The production of “A Hairy Tale” by Pioneer Drama Service will take place at 106A North Main Street. Performances are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10, available at the door with cash or online up to one hour before showtime. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance.

Tutor expressed gratitude for the talented cast and her opportunity to bring her vision to life on stage. The community is encouraged to attend and support local theater efforts.
