Eleven-year-old Azrael Hale-Austin to star as Queen Edwina in local theater production

Azrael Hale-Austin, 11, is set to perform as Queen Edwina in the upcoming production of “A Hairy Tale” at Pontotoc Community Theater in Mississippi. This will be her third year participating in theater productions.

Hale-Austin has previously appeared in productions including “The Glass Slipper,” “The Nutcracker,” “Dr. Experimentor and the League of Evil,” and “On Christmas Day in the Morning,” according to the theater.

She enjoys spending time with her theater friends and has a passion for performing. When not on stage, Hale-Austin likes knitting, singing, listening to music, and drawing, her family said. A fun fact about her is that her favorite animal is the ball python.

The show runs at the Pontotoc Community Theater, located at 106A North Main Street. Performances are scheduled for June 5 at 7 p.m., June 6 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and June 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10, cash only at the door, with online sales available up to one hour before showtime.

Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. General admission seating is available. Audience members are encouraged to cheer Hale-Austin on as she takes the stage for this comedic fairy tale.
