Cold front brings rain and thunderstorms to the region

Rain and a few thunderstorms are forecast to move through the region today as a cold front arrives, according to weather reports.

Up to an inch of rain is expected in North Mississippi, but officials say it will not be enough to improve ongoing drought conditions.

Much cooler air is expected to arrive in the second half of the weekend, bringing a drop in temperatures, the National Weather Service said.
