The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, has announced that severe weather has subsided for the night. Authorities are asking residents to report any storm damage.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center has issued preliminary reports of severe weather observed this afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has expanded the slight risk area for severe storms northeastward, with large hail and damaging winds as primary threats.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. CDT for parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri, including northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats.

A supercell producing very large hail is moving at 30 mph eastward and is forecast to impact northeast Arkansas within the next hour, according to weather officials.
