Dense fog advisory issued for parts of Tennessee and Mississippi

A dense fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. for parts of west Tennessee and north Mississippi, according to the National Weather Service.

Visibility in the affected areas has dropped to a quarter-mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Motorists are advised to give themselves extra time for travel, reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.

The weather service recommends exercising caution until the fog lifts later this morning.
