Tornado watch issued for parts of eight states until early Tuesday

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of eight states until 5 a.m. CDT Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

The watch covers areas in Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. It replaces and expands upon a previous tornado watch issued earlier.

The agency urged residents in the affected regions to stay alert for severe weather conditions and to monitor updates from local weather officials.
