Severe Weather Threat Lingers in Memphis Area, Tornado Risk Possible

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, issued a midday update indicating that the severe weather threat remains unchanged. There is a low risk of tornadoes, but forecasters caution that if a tornado does form, it could be strong enough to cause EF2 damage.

The risk area includes eastern Arkansas, southwest Tennessee, and northwest Mississippi. Localized flash flooding continues to be a concern, especially around the Memphis area late tonight. Authorities warn residents to be cautious of flooded roads, which can be especially hazardous at night.
