Severe Weather Threat Lingers in Memphis Area, Tornado Risk Possible
The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, issued a midday update indicating that the severe weather threat remains unchanged. There is a low risk of tornadoes, but forecasters caution that if a tornado does form, it could be strong enough to cause EF2 damage.
The risk area includes eastern Arkansas, southwest Tennessee, and northwest Mississippi. Localized flash flooding continues to be a concern, especially around the Memphis area late tonight. Authorities warn residents to be cautious of flooded roads, which can be especially hazardous at night.
Officials advise against driving through flooded roadways to prevent accidents and injuries. The weather service will monitor conditions closely and issue further updates as needed.
