Severe weather risk forecasted for northern Mississippi this afternoon

A weather outlook issued Monday indicates a slight risk of severe weather in northern Mississippi this afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service classified the threat as level 2 out of 5.

Areas along Interstate 40, the Memphis metro area, and regions along the Mississippi River south of Memphis face a marginal risk of severe weather, rated at level 1 out of 5.

Forecasters warn that the stronger storms could produce damaging winds, including microbursts, as well as localized heavy rainfall. No injuries or damages have been reported at this time, but residents are advised to stay alert and monitor updates from local officials.
