Scattered showers expected to persist along and west of Mississippi River

Scattered showers are forecast to persist for the next several hours, primarily along and west of the Mississippi River, according to weather officials.

The chances of measurable rainfall are highest in these areas, while the risk of thunderstorms remains low, the National Weather Service said.

By sunset, most of the showers are expected to dissipate, leaving dry conditions in their wake.
