Pontotoc Swim Team Excels at Be the Light Invitational
The Pontotoc swim team had a successful performance at the Be the Light Invitational, earning second place overall among boys and first in their class, according to team officials.
The boys team finished second overall, while the team also claimed first in Class 2 (5A–6A). The meet featured several top individual finishes, including Thomas Jefcoat winning the 100 backstroke and Ruth Ann Burton taking second in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 IM.
Other notable performances included Elijah Farris placing third in the 50 freestyle, Carson Poynor finishing fourth in the 100 butterfly, and Liam Rackley and Reagan Rackley both finishing fourth and sixth in the 500 freestyle. Callie Anne Patrick and Ruth Ann Burton also contributed strong swims for the team.
Relay events saw the boys team winning the 200 freestyle relay and placing third in the 200 medley relay. The girls team finished fourth in the 400 freestyle relay. Coaches praised all swimmers for their effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The team will return to competition Tuesday at the Tupelo Aquatic Center, officials said. The swim team also extended thanks to sponsor The Rack Boutique for support.
