FEMA announces more than $2.2 million for PEPA electrical repairs
FEMA has announced more than $2.2 million for Pontotoc Electric Power Association to repair its electrical distribution system, according to an Oct. 22 release posted by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency. The award places the local utility among the recipients in a new statewide disaster-recovery funding announcement.
PEPA’s funding is listed under FEMA’s Public Assistance program. The release describes that program as federal reimbursement for communities’ disaster-related debris removal, emergency protective work and repairs to damaged critical infrastructure. It identifies electrical-system repairs as the purpose of PEPA’s award but gives no specific work locations or construction timetable.
The Mississippi package covers 40 projects and more than $60 million overall. The release separates nearly $60 million in Public Assistance from nearly $680,000 in hazard-mitigation funding aimed at reducing future disaster damage.
Other nearby awards include more than $2 million for debris removal in Lee County and more than $2.2 million for debris removal in Oxford. New Albany Light, Gas and Water is listed for more than $1.4 million to repair public utilities and carry out emergency protective measures. The full official announcement is linked below.
