Mississippi philanthropist donates $5 million to support UMMC cancer center
Jim Kennedy, who was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, experienced firsthand the fear and uncertainty that accompany a cancer diagnosis, according to a news release from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Kennedy’s personal battle with cancer inspired him to support efforts to expand access to high-quality care close to home. His donation of $5 million aims to help establish a world-class cancer center at UMMC, the release said.
Details about the gift and the center’s development can be found on UMMC’s website.
