Heavy Rain, Heat Wave Forecasted for Tennessee Mid-South

Thunderstorms with heavy rain continue to pose a threat across northern Tennessee, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis. A flash flood watch remains in effect for the region through tonight, as the storms bring the potential for localized flooding.

Following the storms, a prolonged period of heat is forecasted to begin this weekend. Heat index values are expected to climb above 100 degrees Saturday and could reach as high as 110 degrees early next week, forecasters said.

Residents are advised to stay alert for weather updates and take precautions against heat-related illnesses during the upcoming hot spell. The National Weather Service recommends staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged sun exposure.
