FEMA offers aid to Mississippi residents affected by winter storms

Mississippi residents in 36 counties affected by winter storms from January 23 to 27 may be eligible for federal assistance, FEMA announced.

Individuals can apply for aid online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by phone at 800-621-FEMA (3362), or through the free FEMA app.

Basic eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship or qualified status, identity verification via Social Security number or accepted documents, proof of home ownership or occupancy, and unmet needs not covered by insurance.

FEMA urged residents affected by the storms to apply promptly to access available support.
