10-year-old Jayme Carmack makes stage debut in ‘A Hairy Tale’ at Pontotoc Community Theater

Pontotoc, Miss. — Ten-year-old Jayme Carmack is making her theater debut as Antonia in the upcoming production of “A Hairy Tale” at Pontotoc Community Theater.

It is Carmack’s first time participating in theater, and she said her favorite part of the show is having lines and speaking on stage, according to a theater spokesperson.

When not rehearsing, Carmack enjoys playing pretend, reading, drawing, and creating adventures with her imagination. She also loves comedy and making people laugh, the spokesperson added.

Her favorite foods include pizza, chicken, queso, nachos, and grilled cheese, officials said. Carmack is excited to perform alongside the cast in the fairy tale comedy, which runs June 5 through June 7.

Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 106A North Main Street. Tickets are $10, cash only at the door, with online sales available up to an hour before each show. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance. Seating is general admission.

Supporters are encouraged to cheer on Carmack as she makes her stage debut in the production, produced by Pioneer Drama Service.
