US National Weather Service Memphis Reports Drought Conditions

The U.S. National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, released recent maps showing the effects of hot and dry weather on the region. The maps, which are a few days old, do not account for the first four days of September, marked by high temperatures and little rainfall.

The prolonged dry spell has significantly reduced soil moisture levels, especially in eastern Arkansas and parts of West Tennessee. According to the NWS, soil moisture down to 1 meter depth is at near-record lows in these areas.
