University of Mississippi Medical Center launches first fixed-wing aircraft for AirCare program

The University of Mississippi Medical Center’s AirCare program has expanded its reach with the addition of a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, marking its first fixed-wing aircraft. The aircraft is designed to provide an alternative to helicopter transport for patients requiring long-distance travel or specialized care, UMMC said.

According to UMMC, the new plane will improve transportation for patients in rural and community hospitals who need trauma, stroke, transplant, neonatal, burn, or cardiac services. The aircraft allows for more efficient and flexible patient transfers over longer distances.
