UMMC researcher combines childhood compassion with veterinary ambitions
Rian Young’s compassion for animals started in childhood when he repaired a broken toy horse because he believed every animal deserved a second chance, according to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Today, Young works at UMMC, helping researchers study how sleep impacts addiction. His work aligns with his long-term goal of becoming a veterinarian, the university said.
Young’s journey combines his love for animals with scientific research, aiming to improve understanding of addiction and sleep health, UMMC officials added. For more details, visit https://umc.edu/news/News_Articles/2026/08/Rian-Young.html
