Pontotoc Swim Team places fifth at All Shook Up Invitational

The Pontotoc Swim Team finished fifth out of 16 teams at the All Shook Up Invitational held Saturday. The boys and girls teams both placed fifth overall, according to team officials.

Individually, Carson Poynor finished eighth in the 100 butterfly, while Thomas Jefcoat and Reagan Rackley each took third in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle, respectively. Ruth Ann Burton placed third in the 100 breaststroke, and Callie Anne Patrick finished sixth in the 100 butterfly. Liam Rackley was sixth in the 100 backstroke.

In relay events, the boys’ 200 medley relay team finished sixth, with Elijah Farris, Carson Poynor, Thomas Jefcoat, and Jake Cooley. The girls’ 400 freestyle relay team finished fourth, with Reagan Rackley, Ali Larabee, Callie Anne Patrick, and Ruth Ann Burton, according to meet organizers.

The event also celebrated Senior Night, honoring graduating team members. The team expressed gratitude to swimmers, coaches, parents, and supporters for their contributions this season. A spokesperson also thanked Bishop’s Body Shop for sponsoring the team.

“Do right. Get better. Have fun,” the team motto, was emphasized during the event, according to officials.
