Ashley scores twice as Pontotoc beats West Point 23-6 in region opener
PONTOTOC — Nolan Ashley ran for two touchdowns, and Tim Jones intercepted two passes as Pontotoc opened Region 1-5A play with a 23-6 victory over West Point on Friday, Oct. 9.
The Warriors improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the region, according to Pontotoc Athletics’ final-score update. Markavion Jones also scored a rushing touchdown.
Ashley, a sophomore quarterback, stepped in for Courtland Pass, Pontotoc Athletics reported. His two touchdown runs helped the Warriors start their region schedule with a win.
The loss dropped West Point to 0-6 overall, according to MaxPreps’ game report.
Pontotoc is scheduled to host Caledonia next Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., according to the school’s athletics schedule.
