Pontotoc fog forecast overnight; cooler weather arrives this weekend

Fog could affect the Thursday morning drive in Pontotoc County before a cooler weekend arrives. The National Weather Service’s Wednesday afternoon county forecast calls for areas of fog overnight November 4 and during the morning Thursday, November 5. Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the mid 40s.

Thursday should otherwise be mostly sunny, with afternoon temperatures reaching the lower 70s. More fog is forecast Thursday night, when lows return to the mid 40s. Friday’s outlook calls for patchy morning fog followed by sunshine, highs in the lower 70s and north winds of 5 to 10 mph.

The bigger temperature change comes over the weekend. After Friday night lows in the lower 40s, Saturday and Sunday are forecast to reach only the lower 60s under mostly sunny skies. Saturday night and Sunday night lows are expected to drop into the mid 30s. These predictions come from the county forecast issued at 3:05 p.m. Central Standard Time November 4.

If fog limits visibility, the weather service advises drivers to slow down, allow extra travel time, use low-beam headlights and leave more space behind the vehicle ahead. High beams can create glare that makes it harder to see the road.
