National Weather Service issues heat warning for Mid-South

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued an Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory beginning at 10 a.m. today and lasting until 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to a post from the agency.

Forecasters warn that heat indices could exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit across the entire Mid-South region on both days. Residents are advised to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

The NWS recommends staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and young children.

The warning emphasizes the importance of staying cool and safe as temperatures remain dangerously high through Tuesday evening.
