Mid-South faces ongoing heat wave through Labor Day weekend

Temperatures and humidity remain high across the Mid-South, prompting heat advisories to stay in effect through Labor Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Afternoon heat indices are forecasted to reach between 105 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit.

Authorities recommend taking frequent breaks, staying hydrated, and never leaving children or pets in hot vehicles. The extreme heat is expected to continue into early next week before some relief arrives.

Meteorologists say residents should remain cautious and heed safety warnings during this period of intense heat and humidity.
