Dangerous heat will persist across the Mid-South today, with heat index values reaching as high as 115 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee.

Residents are advised to take appropriate precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses. The agency recommends staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and seeking shade or air conditioning when possible.
