Heat Advisory in Effect for Parts of the Mid-South

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a heat advisory for parts of the Mid-South. The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and warns of heat index values at or above 105 degrees.

In addition, there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon into early evening. The primary threat from these storms is damaging winds, according to the weather service.

Residents are advised to take precautions to stay safe in the hot conditions and to be alert for changing weather patterns this afternoon.
