Heat Advisory in Effect as Severe Storms Approach Southeast Arkansas and Northwest Mississippi

Heat will continue to build ahead of scattered strong to severe thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening, according to meteorologists. Heat index values are forecast to surpass 100 degrees across the region, with some areas in Southeast Arkansas and Northwest Mississippi experiencing heat index readings over 105 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory that is in effect until 8 p.m. local time. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat-related illnesses, including staying hydrated and avoiding strenuous activity during peak heat hours.

Forecasters warn that the combination of high temperatures and upcoming storms could lead to dangerous conditions. The storms are expected to develop later in the day, with some potentially reaching severe levels.
