Extreme Drought Returns to Parts of Eastern Arkansas
Recent dry conditions have caused the return of extreme (D3) drought in parts of eastern Arkansas, according to the latest drought update from the National Weather Service. Elsewhere in the state, severe (D2) and moderate (D1) drought conditions persist.
Long-range models indicate a high likelihood of heavy rainfall late next week, which could help alleviate drought conditions. Officials expect all current drought levels to improve or end by the end of April.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated on drought conditions and can view the latest drought information statement at: https://www.weather.gov/MEG/DroughtInformationStatement.
