Severe Storms Expected in Mid-South Later Today
A fast-moving line of storms is expected to move through the Mid-South region later today and into the evening, the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, said. The storms are projected to arrive around 4 p.m. in northeastern Arkansas and could reach Alabama by midnight.
Officials warn residents to prepare for damaging winds and the possibility of tornadoes. The primary concerns are spin-up tornadoes that can develop rapidly along the storm line, potentially causing significant damage.
The Weather Service has issued a briefing detailing the threat level and safety recommendations. The briefing can be accessed at https://www.weather.gov/media/meg/DSSBuilder/WeatherBrief.pdf.
