National Weather Service Warns of Lightning Dangers in Tennessee

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, warns that lightning strikes can cause serious injuries or death. They advise people to take shelter in an enclosed building or a hard-topped vehicle with the windows up if they hear thunder or see lightning.

Officials also recommend having a portable weather radio or an AM/FM radio when outdoors or on a boat, especially during severe weather conditions. This is part of Tennessee’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, aimed at increasing safety precautions among residents.

The agency emphasizes the importance of timely sheltering to avoid the dangers associated with lightning strikes during storms.
