UMMC reports progress in restoring systems after cyberattack
The University of Mississippi Medical Center announced Wednesday that it is making significant progress in responding to a cyberattack and restoring its systems. All hospitals and emergency departments in Jackson, Madison County, Holmes County, and Grenada remain open, according to an update from the medical center.
However, regularly scheduled clinic appointments and elective procedures will be canceled through Friday. The medical center said all canceled appointments will be rescheduled soon. Patients with urgent needs are advised to call the automated UMMC Triage Line at 601-815-0000. Patients requiring immediate care will be contacted directly to schedule clinic visits from Wednesday through Friday.
UMMC expressed hope that it will resume elective procedures and regular clinic operations as early as Monday. The medical center said its ability to do so depends on ongoing work over the next few days. Officials apologized for the inconvenience caused by the disruptions.
