UMMC clinics closed, hospitals remain open amid cyberattack investigation
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is collaborating with federal authorities and national experts to evaluate a recent cyberattack, according to a statement from the institution.
The hospital expects the investigation to take several days and has advised patients and staff to stay informed as more information becomes available. UMMC clinics across the state will be closed again Friday, Feb. 20, and elective procedures have been canceled. Appointments will be rescheduled, officials said.
An exception is the dialysis clinic at the Jackson Medical Mall, which remains operational and open for scheduled appointments. UMMC hospitals and emergency departments will stay open unless officials announce otherwise.
In-person classes will continue as scheduled, but all online classes are canceled for Friday. The hospital apologized for the disruption and said it is working to restore systems and services as quickly as possible.
