Statewide clinics to stay closed Wednesday; emergency services remain open
Clinics statewide will remain closed Wednesday, Feb. 25, and elective procedures are canceled, according to a release from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Appointments will be rescheduled when possible. UMMC hospitals and emergency departments in Jackson, Grenada, Madison County, and Holmes County will stay open.
The UMMC Triage Line has been established for patient calls. The number is 601-815-0000. For medical emergencies, callers are advised to dial 911. Requests for time-sensitive needs, such as medication refills or post-operative care visits, will be prioritized.
Patients calling the triage line are asked to speak clearly and provide their name, callback number, date of birth, the person they are trying to reach, and the reason for their call. Those requesting prescription refills should have medication name, dosage, and pharmacy contact information ready.
Messages will be routed to the appropriate staff for a return call, which may come from a non-UMMC number. Due to high call volumes, callback times may be delayed, and callers are asked not to call multiple times to avoid slowing response efforts. Officials apologized for the inconvenience and assured that teams are working around the clock to restore full operations and assist as many people as possible.
