Power Company Reports Ongoing Outages Amid Severe Weather

The general manager of the local utility company provided an update on power outages caused by severe weather conditions. He said crews worked through the night to restore service but faced significant challenges.

Frankie Moorman explained that after initially gaining ground in repairs, a surge of downed lines and limbs set back progress. Crews worked until 5:30 a.m., but dangerous conditions forced them to pause.

Currently, more than 19,000 outages are reported as freezing rain continues to fall, bringing additional lines and limbs down. The company plans to work until dark and keep a standby crew available for emergencies overnight. Restoration efforts are expected to continue into the coming days.

Moorman urged residents to report downed power lines and expressed appreciation for patience during the ongoing recovery. He said a further update would be provided later in the evening.
