Pontotoc Community Theatre prepares for opening night of ‘Treasure Island’
The Pontotoc Community Theatre is set to open its production of “Treasure Island” on Thursday night. Officials are urging theatergoers to purchase tickets in advance to ensure they don’t miss the show.
Ruth Gaug, making her first appearance with the theatre, will serve as the sound operator for the production. She recently moved to Mississippi and wanted to become involved in the community’s arts scene. Gaug is a fan of musical theatre and Broadway shows, with “Mamma Mia” and “Phantom of the Opera” among her favorites.
Gaug has a background in social work and has volunteered at the theatre. She was also a “theater mom” when her two sons, Joshua and Coltan, participated in high school productions. She moved to Mississippi to be closer to her fiancé, David Warren, and they are planning a fall wedding.
When not working or volunteering, Gaug enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with family. Theatre officials welcomed her aboard ahead of the upcoming opening night.
