National Weather Service Memphis Warns of Flood Dangers

The National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, issued a warning about the dangers of flooding. Officials emphasized that water levels and flow rates can change rapidly during a flood.

They urged residents to move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving into floodwaters. It takes just 6 inches of moving water to knock a person off their feet, according to the agency.

The NWS recommends staying informed by monitoring local radio and television stations for updates. Additional safety information is available at weather.gov/safety/flood, and the agency used the hashtag #MOSWPW2026 in their post.
