Mississippi extends tax deadline for 49 counties to March 2026

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed a proclamation extending the deadline for residents in 49 counties to submit ad valorem taxes. The new deadline is March 3, 2026, according to a statement from the governor’s office.

The extension applies to counties affected by recent events, including Adams, Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Claiborne, Clarke, Clay, Coahoma, DeSoto, Grenada, Hinds, Holmes, Humphreys, Itawamba, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leake, Leflore, Lowndes, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Newton, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Rankin, Smith, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, Warren, Washington, Webster, Wilkinson, Yalobusha and Yazoo.

The proclamation also delays fines for late payments, providing additional relief for residents and businesses affected by recent circumstances. The extension aims to ease the financial burden on taxpayers in these counties, the governor’s office said.
