GOES-East detects extensive snow and sleet in Lower Great Plains and Mid-South
Satellite imagery from the GOES-East Day Cloud Phase Distinction RGB channel reveals a widespread area of snow and sleet, indicated by green coloration, spanning the Lower Great Plains into much of the Mid-South this afternoon.
The imagery shows a sharp boundary between snow and land surface over west Tennessee and northern Mississippi, with snow depicted in green and land in blue.
Meteorologists continue to monitor the storm system as it moves through the region, bringing winter weather conditions to affected areas.
