Freezing rain begins in northeast Mississippi, officials warn of worsening conditions

Freezing rain has begun falling across much of northeast Mississippi, according to weather officials. The precipitation is expected to intensify later today across the entire area highlighted in pink on weather maps.

Transportation officials have identified I-22 from Holly Springs to Tupelo as the area of greatest concern. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and prepare for hazardous travel conditions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors if possible and avoid travel until conditions improve.
