Electric cooperatives celebrate Sibling Day with mutual aid efforts
Electric cooperatives observe National Sibling Day by emphasizing their commitment to cooperation among cooperatives. This principle was evident following Winter Storm Fern, when multiple cooperatives pooled resources to restore power.
PEPA reported that sister cooperatives, including Dixie Electric Power, Natchez Trace Electric Power, Singing River Electric Power, and Tombigbee Electric Power, assisted in restoring electricity after the storm disrupted service. Five cooperatives from Missouri also contributed to the effort.
PEPA officials said this mutual aid exemplifies the cooperative spirit and the importance of working together during times of need. The cooperative network demonstrated its strength and unity, reinforcing its role as a reliable community partner.
National Sibling Day serves as a reminder of the close ties and collaborative efforts that define the cooperative movement across regions and specialties.
