Arctic air brings cold wind chills to Mid-South on Jan. 23, 2026

Gusty north winds continue to push arctic air into the Mid-South on Friday evening, according to weather reports.

Temperatures are mainly in the 20s to mid-30s, but wind chill readings are significantly lower. Most of the region is experiencing wind chills in the teens and 20s.

Some areas north of Interstate 40 are already seeing wind chills in the single digits, prompting authorities to advise residents to take precautions against the cold.
